Engineering Department
The Engineering Department falls under the umbrella of the City of Kenora Operations Department. This department provides engineering support and recommendations to various City departments upon request and is also responsible for or is involved with Capital Construction Projects from the conception, design, tendering and administration through to the completion of the project.
The department is comprised of four employees: Municipal Engineer, Civil Technologist, Engineering Assistant and Engineering Support Person.

Engineering - Geographic Information System (GIS)
The Engineering Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS). The GIS provides updated property and infrastructure data and mapping for the entire city. It is an extremely useful tool that is used to provide drawings or mapping for other departmental needs or for consultants hired by the City for various projects. A version of this program is available for public viewing on the web in GIS Manager. This service, in both digital (ArcView or ArcMap) and hard copy format, is also provided to the consumer upon request.
The GIS data is updated regularly and is current to 2005. The ortho photography was originally done in 1996 for Kenora/Keewatin and in 2000 for Jaffray Melick and most currently in 2004 for the entire City. All of this ortho photography is available.

Engineering Department - General
The Engineering Department provides AutoCAD mapping upon request to various internal departments. We also have as-built infrastructure drawings available for internal use. We currently have only one map available for the consumer but are looking at providing other services in the future.

A 30” x 36” paper copy of the map is available from the Engineering Office, Operations Centre, 60 Fourteenth Street North, Kenora ON. The current price for the map is $10.00 (includes taxes).
